Modernizing Education

The Department of Slavonic Studies organizes and holds teaching-method seminars and language courses focused on modernizing teaching practices, using state-of-the-art IT, and improving teaching methods.

Bringing Generations Together

This project focuses on changing the ways of instruction and curricula for undergraduate education and teachers’ lifelong learning. The project’s goal is to bring together the expertise of experienced teachers and the creativity and fresh perspectives of their early-career colleagues.

Experienced Teachers

The experienced teaching team is made up of experts from many Czech and foreign universities.

Besides philological academic programmes, the Department of Slavonic Studies of the Faculty of Arts of MU also offers the Upper Secondary School Teacher Training in Russian Language and Literature programme, and since 2007 (with the Innovation in Post-gradual Education for Russian Teachers project) has established and maintained a tradition of organizing accredited educational programmes and courses for Russian language teachers at secondary and elementary schools.

The experienced teaching team organizes and holds teaching-method seminars and language courses focused on modernizing teaching practices, using state-of-the-art IT, and improving teaching methods in different areas of Russian education in schools.

The course Support for and Innovation in the Professional Development of Teachers of the Russian Language at Primary and Secondary Schools, which we are introducing in the 2025/26 school year, builds, in part, upon previously offered educational activities for Russian teachers at schools as part of the Further Education of Pedagogical Workers (DVPP) system (i.e., the courses Russian in Practice and Russian for Teachers) and responds to the demand among teachers for programmes supporting social and professional development in secondary education specified by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports in its requirements for standardized project templates for secondary schools in the 2025–2028 period.

The course includes educational activities focused on the further social and professional development of Russian teachers and support for mentor teachers, including developing digital skills, media literacy, the use of artificial intelligence, and education for students who need language support.
